I keep getting caught up thinking about how I would change my living situation:

  • last weekend I was immobilised by the heat (we have no A/C, the house was built in the 40s)
  • currently our cat is confined to our room, but I really want to be able to give him free reign of our house (other animals exist in various sections of the house where their interaction is not allowed or must be moderated)
  • the kitchen is always1 frequently messy

what I really should be doing is listing the things I'm going to miss come October, which seems to be the move-out target for the house:

  • my commute to work is four miles on a great road, with the option to take a longer twisty route
  • we may be in the nicest neighbourhood in the state (West Menlo Park)
  • we have a ton of space: two car garage, two kitchens, and space in the library for: three desks facing each other, five bookshelves, and an entertainment area (yes, we have a library, and it is good)

fixating on what's wrong with the now seems to be an integral part of the human condition. this place is great and I'm going to miss it.

1 not sure what happened, but very recently things have been pretty good. I suspect Carmen deserves most of the blame.
